Nutrition Advice from Sportsloungeuk

At Polocini we take nutrition very seriously. On all of our tours and events we always ensure riders are fuelled properly. This is why we have linked up with the experts at The Sports Lounge to offer their advice and services. Sports Lounge will be on hand at our events and will also be offering monthly nutrition chats at the Polocini Coffee shop.

There’s more to sports nutrition than bananas and carbs and you don’t have to be a pro to benefit. The nutritional status of our bodies can have a huge impact on our preparation, performance and recovery in our sports. No matter what level you are training or competing at it’s important to make sure your nutrition and hydration is right.

Thousands of chemical reactions occur every minute and help our bodies to turn out training session after training session. Vitamins, minerals, essential fats, electrolytes and amino acids are just some of the vital components that are needed to make these chemical reactions happen. A deficiency in just one of these could result in your body not performing at its best.

Getting the nutrition and hydration right will allow you or your team or club to:

  • Train harder and longer
  • Speed up recovery
  • Tackle muscle fatigue
  • Manage energy levels
  • Manage dehydration effectively
  • Know what to eat and when for optimal performance
  • Replace crucial vitamins and minerals that are lost during intense training – without them your body can’t continue to operate at its optimal level and will hamper your training and competition performance
  • Protect muscles and joints
  • Strengthen your immune system to safeguard against colds and infections that can result from putting your body through high intensity exercise
